Critically endangered, African rhino have suffered from poaching and habitat loss. Despite the ban on rhino-horn trade, they are killed for their horns. Illustrated here with the profusely flowering Acacia karoo, a thorny bee-attracting tree that is a favourite of the browsing Black or hook-lipped Rhino, and Themeda trianda, which is grazed by the white – or square-lipped – rhino.
